Special Software Requests for Computer Labs

Faculty may request installation in certain 'open' computer labs of special software that is not part of the computer lab's standard image. This type of software is normally used for a semester in a particular class. In order for such requests to be honored:

1. The special software must be presented for installation at least fifteen (15) business days prior to the desired date/time of lab reservation. E-mail the applicable entity noted in Item 6 below with information prior to presenting the software.

NOTE: No software modifications will be made to workstations during the three (3) weeks prior to the end of any semester. This assists IT in maintaining image stabilty during these heavy lab utilization periods.

2. The instructor must furnish a copy of the software license for authorizing the software for use on the number of computers required for the class.

3. The software must be fully compatible with the Microsoft Windows XP operating system and not conflict with any other already-installed software.

4. The software must be fully compatible with the lab computers' current security policies and procedures.

5. For information on the computer labs' current software configuration visit the Information Technology Services web site: (http://its.unomaha.edu) . Select the Services & Support tab, then the Computer Labs link on the left, then the 'Software' Listing.

6. For installation of special software in the following computer labs, e-mail the information requested to the person or entity noted. The subject of the e-mail should be 'Special Software Installation Request':

- DSC 104; MBSC (Elmwood Rm); RH 007 - unohelpdesk@mail.unomaha.edu

- ASH 300 - jbell@mail.unomaha.edu

- HPER 211 - bgoeman@mail.unomaha.edu

- RH 401 - dgeschwender@mail.unomaha.edu

- PKI 158 - jbcallahan@mail.unomaha.edu (A & C) or ppokorny@mail.unomaha.edu (K & L)

Information to include:

- Desired lab
- Software title and version number
- Time frame for request
- Course Number
- Department
- Contact Person's Name and Phone Number

7. If the special request software is server based, the primary college for the class utilizing the software will be responsible for the server side of the application. ITS will install the client side of the application on the workstations.
